Eyeglasses on Eye Chart

Are you creative, happy and responsible person? Well that’s great! But I am sorry to tell you that won’t help you much in your CV. Why? Because everyone else that writes a CV is also happy, creative and responsible!

Here is a list of the most oft-repeated words that you should avoid (source LinkedIn);

  •           Creative
  •           Happy
  •           Effective
  •           Motivated
  •           Responsible
  •           Structured
  •           Analytical
  •           Positive
  •            Good communication skills
  •           Ready for new challenges
  •           Innovative

The list goes on, but it’s same for all of them. If you use these words you’re only decorating the cover letter. The basic rule is: Every time you use a describing word, you should be able to prove it. Otherwise it’s a waste of time.

Remember, no one needs to know if you are a happy or a positive fella. They only want to know why they should hire you. :)
